Beautiful thoughts, Julie. I think you might like some of these ideas for creating art with natural materials found on-site: https://www.morningaltars.com/altars
I have made a little note to myself for the beginning of the summer holidays Ann… before then is an impossibility but spirals on my hill… oh I shall dream of that..!🐚🌀♥️
Beautiful. I love spirals, and The Golden Rule can be illustrated as a spiral, a representation of the spirals in nature you have mentioned. Maureen Murdock's book is excellent - I've not ever heard anyone else but you reference it. Thank you!
Thanks, Jenny. I’m so intrigued by what you say about The Golden Rule being illustrated as a spiral. Can you say more? I’m familiar with the Golden Mean or Golden Section. Is it that?
The Golden Rule is one of my great interests, too. Thank you for this post, as it has been awhile since I have spent time with it, so this has revived my attention to it. If a person observes carefully, one can see the Golden Rule and its different forms everywhere, especially in nature.
Oh, absolutely!! Before computers, when I designed buildings by hand, I always used the golden section to lay out plans, sections, and facades. It’s so versatile and harmonious — like magic! Yes, it’s everywhere in nature. 💚 You can diagram a nautilus shell with it.
It’s funny, when I read Golden Rule, I thought of the maxim, “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.”
Wish I could join you on the retreat! I enjoyed this essay and learnt a lot! I had heard of Hildegard of Bingen before but now I want to find out more - I will look for a copy of Matthew Fox's book. I will also look for Maureen Murdock's book.
Have you read "Cassandra Speaks: When Women Are the Storytellers, the Human Story Changes" by Elizabeth Lesser? It touches on these themes too.
Fibonacci. Nautilus. Michelangelo's Golden Rule. The models of order offered by nature serve as story structures that offer alternatives to Aristotle's dramatic arc and Joseph Campbell's monomyth of the Hero's Journey. Spirals capture the way a story unfolds. Best wishes on your retreat.

Oh my goodness! Those are magnificent! Thanks so much for the link.
I'm picturing you all there. I'll be with you in spirit. One of these days, we'll have to be on the leadership team at the same time!
❤️🌀💚
you’re welcome, Julie! I had his book with me on the silent retreat I recently did. It’s just stunning!
Now I just want to create spirals everywhere... Ann these are stunningly beautiful... 🙏🏼
I hope you enjoy the meditative & creative practice, Susie! Your land will always provide a good canvas.

☺️🙏💛
Ann, these are amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Wow! Beautiful!!
Right?!?!💚
These are amazing. I'm so glad that you shared this.
Aren’t they amazing?! Getting in the mood! 💚🌈
Yes the Fibonacci sequence everywhere in nature is magical! Thanks for sharing, this gives me an idea to add a spiral of stones to my garden 🌺
Nature’s magic. 💚
I’ve always been fascinated by fractals, spirals, the golden ratio, and Fibonacci sequence. I love the idea of a Heroine’s Journey as a spiral.
Me too!! Just making this connection. Spirals are amazing 🤩 🌀
Such an important perceptual shift. Thanks for articulating this, Julie.
Thanks so much, Diana. 🌀
Thanks so much for the shout out Julie! And I love what you're adding to the discussion in this post too!♥️🙏🕊️
I was with some friends, banging on about the binary when it hit me. 🙃😵💫
Ahh Julie, connecting the Heroines journey to the spirals of nature... I want to know more! Fascinating writing, natures secrets never fail do they?
And the more you look, the more you find. 🌀

You are welcome! I believe they are all the same. Here is one place that delves into the Golden Rule/Ratio/Mean

NO!! That book sounds fantastic! Thanks for the suggestion. We did have one last-minute cancellation . . . where are you coming from? 😊
I’m in Poland 😟 I don’t think I ever felt as sad writing that… 🙃
Hmmmmm. Yeah, that's a bit out of range, isn't it? 😉
This is so lovely and beautiful! Have a wonderful time this weekend!
Thanks! I’m getting excited. 🌀
Blessings for all on this retreat, Julie.
Thanks so much!! 🌀

Thanks for being here, Jill.
Beautiful observations, Julie. This captures the spirit of the moment that gives me great hope.
I’m so glad. ☺️
Sounds like a wonderful retreat. And now I'm thinking about spirals...🐚
Aren’t they amazing? 🌀
As humanity
evolves, truer may we grow.
Beyond binaries.
...
Looping, curling ebbs,
unfurling, unfolding flows.
Spiraling pulses.
...
Reciprocity.
Way beyond transactional.
It’s not linear, no.
Lovely!
