“I love the idea of describing a place a hundred times…”
This opening sentence instantly reminds me of the artist Samuel John "Lamorna" Birch who lived in the village of Lamorna, on the southern coast of West Penwith (Cornwall, UK), and painted the landscape of Lamorna, probably hundreds of times.
Great example! We visited friends every summer in Brewster, on Cape Cod, for 20 years. Every year, we’d go to Brewster Flats, where I would make a few watercolors, immersed in meditative connection with the place. I miss that. Hmmmm.. maybe time to start that up again — in my own backyard.
I really enjoyed this post and the wonderful photos, thank you for sharing Michela! I love that you have described the same place so many times. The value we nature writers bring to our writing is our unique perspective of the environment - your post was an excellent reminder for me that I don't have to travel far and wide in search of things to write about or photos to capture because every visit will have its own little surprises. I look forward to reading more of your inspiring work! :)
Thank you Julie for your community of fabulous writers who play in nature and love to share what they notice. I found Michela’s Substack not long after I started writing here and her work has been an inspiration for my writing and interactions with nature.
I loved reading about your writing and creative journey Michela, thank you 🙏
Thank for sharing, there is so beauty in this to contemplate
Thanks very much Bel.
Thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed it. 💚
A great interview with one of my favorites here on Substack!
Thank you Paul, very kind of you.
So glad you enjoyed it!

I love the idea of writing over and over about your place!
Thanks Jenny! I'm glad you feel that way.
