Apparently, scientific academia is particularly dysfunctional. Some of this I picked up from STEM Twitter - oh, the stories! Some from interviews, films and reading. Thankfully, my job is nothing like this. Especially since I'm not at that career stage.
What an emotionally charged chapter! I especially loved feeling some of that soft innocence under all the fire and grit. The part of her that still talks to starlings and rivers, and no doubt is the fuel underneath everything she does.
