Duane, thanks for that lovely, tender story. I do agree that homeownership definitely has its downside of ensnaring us into the system. That said, I'm aware of my privilege of being able to afford those financial burdens, having that choice. I'm struck by the ways your friend Jim did have a community around him, people who cared about his well-being. Whatever form of home we live in, that connection to others is critical to well-being.
